A common misconception I run into again and again in my practice as a divorce lawyer is the belief that, before you contact a divorce attorney, you have to have already figured out exactly what your divorce will look like. Spoiler alert: you don’t! The truth is I will be happy to talk to you no matter how far up the field you have gotten in your divorce-related decisions. In fact, the sooner the better!
No doubt, there are a lot of decisions that need to be made in the divorce process, especially at the beginning. The most important thing, though, is to make those decisions from an informed place. That’s how you avoid decisions that could have significant negative effects on you and your kids’ lives. And, unless you are a divorce attorney yourself, you won’t necessarily be in an informed place before you talk to me. And that’s OK! Give me as little as a half an hour on the phone and, no matter what stage you are at, you will definitely be in a much more informed place to decide how to move forward.
The reality is you make my job easier the earlier you reach out to me, because then you are not already down a path that you may have taken based on incomplete or incorrect information. You can be much more confident you are on the right path if it is a path we planned out together, a path that is informed by the expertise and experience of a seasoned divorce attorney. Let’s set out a path together. Feel free to call me for a free initial consultation: (248) 457-4566. Or you can email me at peter@pgbplc.com.
